Why Paint by Numbers is So Relaxing?

Hi, Olivia here.
I wanted to share with you why painting can be so good for your wellbeing.

You probably know about the benefits of meditation or solving sudoku: painting by numbers is very similar.

Be like a monk.
Painting by numbers will soothe your mind, just like meditation. You will be focused for an extended period of time. In the case of meditation, you probably need to be a Shaolin monk to meditate for hours. With paint by numbers, you will unleash your inner monk by focusing for hours over your masterpiece, and that without years of training or shaving your hair. I consider that a win-win situation.

Relax.
You and I have this part of the brain called the amygdala. It flairs up when you pay taxes or talk to the neighbour Steave that you dislike. It is our primitive threat detection system. While painting, you talk to this part of your brain calmly, and this calming effect carries with you for about 24 hours. According to the American Journal of Public Health, The Connection Between Art, Healing, and Public Health, you will increase your happiness levels by 23% when you engage in a relaxing hobby.

Rest.
If you decide to paint in the evening or before you sleep, you will take all the painting benefits with you to your bed. You do not have to be a scientist to conclude that falling to sleep is easier when you are relaxed. You probably can remember falling asleep after a fight or other stressful event. It is not easy.

There are many more benefits to painting. But I do not want to take to much of your time. Thank you for reading. If you have any questions, please shoot me an email and I will be sure to send you one back as soon as possible.

Thank you!
